City of Somerton employees signed a pledge to prevent and end elder abuse. The pledge is part of a state-wide movement to spread awareness of elder abuse. Elder abuse is not always obvious in elders, and the Area Agency on Aging advises people should look for signs of depression and sadness in elders, as well as unexplained injuries and weight loss.

Two registered nurses in San Diego could lose their licenses because of videos that allegedly show the men engaging in sex acts at the bedside of a 98-year-old stroke patient. Authorities say they were given security camera videos by the woman’s family that appear to show her paid caregivers fondling each other by her bedside. Another video allegedly shows one man putting the woman’s hand inside his pants. The woman’s daughter has sued the men for elder abuse.

Two registered nurses in San Diego could lose their licenses because of videos that allegedly show the men engaging in sex acts at the bedside of a 98-year-old stroke patient. An investigation was launched last year, and the nurses have had their license suspended pending an administrative hearing next week. They could also face criminal charges.

A 98-year-old stroke victim was allegedly the victim of elder abuse after two nurses fondled her during sexual acts. The family suspected that their mother was not being taken care of properly and complaints to AMS Home Care Solutions yielded no solution, so the family set up a surveillance camera. The footage that was obtained by San Diego 6 news was taken between March 3, and March 11, 2011 shows one nurse kissing the woman and fondling her and the other nurse. It also shows them exposing themselves and masturbating reports XETZ.

A forum on elder abuse prevention is being put on by a committee consisting of local law enforcement and representatives from various groups that serve seniors. The forum is open to the public and includes members from about 30 agencies and groups trying to address the fact that abuse, neglect and exploitation of seniors is a growing national problem.

Last year, a widely heralded study found that 7.6% of older New Yorkers are victims of elder abuse over the course of a single year.  In New York City, the levels are even higher – a shocking 9%, or almost 1 in every ten residents aged 60 or older.

A woman pleaded guilty
to Grand Larceny in the Second Degree and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree. These are the highest charges for which the defendant could have been convicted had she gone to trial. She admitted that during her employment at Basset Manor, she stole a total of $110,174 from an elderly patient. She agreed to assist the victim by writing checks to the facility, but also wrote checks payable to herself.

A former caregiver at an assisted living facility has been arrested and charged with elder abuse. Adult Protective Services contacted Leon County investigators after receiving documentation of the alleged abuse between the suspect and an elderly and disabled patient inside an assisted living facility in Limestone County.

He is accused of letting morbidly obese his wife deteriorate while lying in her own waste. She died of multiple injuries and complications from morbid obesity.

State investigators have concluded that an aide at a Deephaven nursing home sexually assaulted a female resident twice one evening last March while he helped her shower, leaving the woman distraught and feeling "violated," according to a report released Tuesday.

What could have been a tragedy for a Clinton family who reported their elderly relative missing during the height of the Nor'easter Nov. 7, turned out to have a much happier ending than anticipated. Several hours after the Silver Alert was issued, or about 9 p.m. on the evening of Nov. 7, the Clinton Police located the man at his home.
