A bill making its way through the legislature would limit awards of attorney fees in abuse cases involving the elderly and vulnerable adults. House Bill 2560, sponsored by Republican Ted Vogt out of Tucson, removes the ability for the court to order the payment of attorney fees in civil claims related to the care of vulnerable adults.

A husband and wife indicted in connection with the death of an elderly Napa woman have been ordered released from jail after pleading guilty Friday to lesser charges in Napa County Superior Court. Originally indicted for murder and elder abuse, the couple eventually pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and elder abuse after spending 18 months in jail.

A controversial Galesburg religious leader who was condemned by the Catholic Diocese of Peoria as being a fraudulent priest has been charged with seven felonies in Knox County.
