6 people who were arrested in 2009 on 249 felony charges of securities fraud, grand theft, elder abuse and corporate identity theft have their day in court. They are accused of running a $142 million mortgage and securities fraud that prompted more than 200 Riverside County home foreclosures.

A bill aimed at protecting children and vulnerable adults was recently signed into law by Governor Mark Dayton. The bill makes it a felony to intentionally neglect vulnerable adults or abusively restrain children.

Four Brookhaven women have been sentenced on charges of conspiracy to commit abuse of a vulnerable person. The four women, who were certified nurse’s assistants at the Lincoln Residential Center in Brookhaven, devised a plan to have one resident at the facility fight another as discipline, according to Attorney General Jim Hood.

Greensboro Police are investigating a case of alleged elder abuse at Maple Grove Health and Rehabilitation Center. The alleged victim’s daughter made the report after nursing home staff told her that her mother had taken a blow to the head.

Quail Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has fired employees accused of abusing a 96-year-old patient with dementia, according to a statement issued Wednesday. The nursing assistants are accused of abuse after being caught on a camera hidden by the victim's family.

A nursing home employee shoved latex gloves into a 96-year-old woman's mouth and forcefully held them there while a co-worker looked on, a video obtained by the Oklahoma City police shows.

Police arrested two women for abusing a 96-year-old patient at a Northwest Oklahoma City nursing home. The abuse was all caught on video. The police report states the family placed a hidden camera in their loved one's room about a year ago.

A worker at a local retirement community last week reported a fellow employee to police out of fear for resident safety, after allegedly witnessing physical abuse that included covering the mouths and noses of 90-year-olds to stop them from speaking.

Two Toronto-area residents have been charged in what Regional Police are calling a case of elder abuse. Police allege a woman posed as a registered nurse and worked with an accomplice. The pair now faces various charges, including fraud over $5000, personation, common nuisance endangering life and conspiracy.

A woman is charged with theft for allegedly using about $10,000 from her business account to pay for personal expenses like a luxury car and a credit card bill. She is also charged with exploitation of a disabled adult and six charges of elder abuse for turning off the water at one of her homes on Sydney Pond Circle for a week. Police said more charges could be forthcoming.
